About Me

Hailing from the scenic town of Bega in New South Wales and now based in Melbourne, Sitka Bloom is a musician and teacher whose work is deeply rooted in the traditions of folk and bluegrass music. Influenced by the intricate guitar stylings of Tony Rice, Bryan Sutton, David Grier and many more, Sitka Bloom brings a thoughtful blend of tradition and contemporary perspective to his teaching and playing.

A committed guitarist since the age of 11, Sitka Bloom experienced a renewed passion for acoustic music in 2024, leading him to delve deeper into his musical roots through dedicated study and practice. This period of reflection and growth marked a turning point in his journey, inspiring him to adopt the name Sitka Bloom as a symbol of his evolving musical identity.

The name “Sitka” is in reference to ‘Sitka Spruce’ a commonly used top wood in acoustic guitar construction. “Bloom” represents growth, renewal, and a commitment to sharing music in ways that educate, inspire, and connect. Whether performing, teaching, or collaborating with others, Sitka Bloom aims to foster a deeper appreciation for acoustic traditions while encouraging creative exploration.
